WHAT IS NLP?

NLP encourages behavioural flexibility, that is, the ability to choose how we respond to any given situation – NLP explores possibilities from new and different perspectives creating changes in thought and behaviour as well as providing the opportunity to explore what works well for us.

NLP enhances communication and resolves conflict by increasing our ability to build strong relationships through rapport.  NLP provides individuals with the tools to understand another person’s map of the world and therefore adjust behaviours to create a sense of comfort and ease for all parties.

NLP has powerful tools for stress management enabling the individual to merely walk through simple techniques which diminish the stressor.  NLP techniques enable an individual to anchor positive, resourceful states as easily as hearing a favourite song anchors a feeling from the past.

NEURO LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING

Neuro Linguistic Programming explores the interconnections between how we think (neuro), our language (both verbal and non-verbal) (linguistic) and our behavioural patterns and emotional state (programming).

NEURO

Refers to our neurology - the nervous system, the mind – the mental processes or pathways to the five senses which allow us to see, hear, feel, taste and smell.  These pathways are:

  • Visual
  • Auditory
  • Kinaesthetic
  • Olfactory
  • Gustatory
  • Auditory Internal Dialogue (Self Talk)

LINGUISTIC

Refers to language, how we use words and construct phrases as well as how the non verbal language of movement and gestures reveal our states and thought patterns.

PROGRAMMING    Programming refers to the notion that our thoughts, feelings and actions are like computer software programs. When we change or upgrade our programs we experience positive changes in our performance, thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
